Ravens Kicker Justin Tucker Says Icing Him Will Only Help

Several times this postseason, games have come down to field goals.

If the Ravens are in line for a last-second field goal in Sunday’s Super Bowl, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh might want to hold on to that timeout.

Baltimore rookie kicker Justin Tucker told Pro Football Talk that he actually prefers getting “iced,” believing it gives him more time to prepare.

“If anything, it gives you a little bit more time to pick out your aiming point,” said Tucker. “I don’t think it really has any bearing on what happens in live game action anyways.”

Tucker has already made several game-winning kicks for the Ravens this season. In Week 3, Tucker’s 27-yard field goal lifted Baltimore to a 31-30 win over the Patriots.

The undrafted free agent continued his heroics with a 47-yard field goal in the second overtime to beat Denver and put Baltimore in the AFC Championship Game. However, that kick came with controversy as Tucker took a practice kick on the field in between the first and second overtimes.

Tucker’s foot could decide which Harbaugh brings home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
