It seems the most sought after player at the trade deadline this season likely won’t play this year and can’t be traded for.

Greg Oden has received interest from the Celtics and Heat, and now his hometown Cavaliers are set to offer him a two-year contract, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal. Oden plans to sit out the entire 2012-13 season to recover from knee injuries that have kept him from playing since the 2009-10 season.

The Cavs are expected to offer Oden a contract after the Feb. 21 trade deadline passes. The deal will include a team option for a third year. The Cavs have about $4 million in cap space, according to Lloyd.

Oden was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2007-08 NBA draft. He has played just 82 career NBA games.
