Just when we thought the Lakers’ soap opera drama might have been cooling down, it appears that Dwight Howard is turning the heat back up — again.
The Los Angeles locker room has been anything but boring over the past few months, but just when things were starting to settle down Howard decided to make matters worse. Before this past weekend’s All-Star game in Houston, Howard reportedly decided to mock Kobe Bryant in the West locker room to other NBA stars including Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant.
Sources told the New York Post that Howard, “grabbed Kobe’s uniform, put it on, and imitated him in front of all the other players on the West team. He was joking and berating Kobe.”
The source added when Bryant entered the locker room that evening he “said hello to everyone on the team except Howard, grabbed his stuff and moved as far away from Howard as he could.”
Despite a recent meeting to clear some of the issues surrounding the team, the Lakers’ relationships have continued to be rocky. When Bryant was asked during All-Star weekend about his thoughts on Howard being traded before this week’s trade deadline, the guard responded, “It doesn’t matter.”
While, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak thinks otherwise, this recent flare-up might cause him to reconsider.
