The NHL might be looking to one of its cash cows to help regenerate the revenue lost during the most recent lockout. That means there may be more outdoor games coming NHL fans’ way.
TheFourthPeriod.com reports that the NHL is considering adding more outdoor games to its schedule for the 2014 season. That would be in addition to the Winter Classic, which is scheduled for Jan. 1 at the University of Michigan between the Red Wings and Maple Leafs.
According to the report, the NHL is toying with the idea of adding outdoor games in New York and Los Angeles as well. Those games would be played at Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium, respectively. The league is also reportedly contemplating bringing back the Heritage Classic next season, giving the league four outdoor games in 2014. That game would likely take place in either Vancouver or Edmonton.
