Super Bowl fever has gripped the Bay Area with the San Francisco 49ers getting set to play in the Super Bowl, and that excitement has found its way onto the ice as well.

San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture paid homage to Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick on Thursday night after he scored a goal against the Edmonton Oilers. Couture did the “Kaepernick” pose — kissing one’s biceps — as Kaepernick does after scoring a touchdown.

“It’s a Bay Area team that’s in the Super Bowl. Just showing some support for those guys,” Couture said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. “We’re rooting for them.”

Couture isn’t the first NHL player to bring an overhyped NFL celebration onto the ice. Then-Kings defenseman Jack Johnson celebrated a goal last season by “Tebowing” in honor of Tim Tebow.
