Sometimes, a movie can tell an inspiring story. Other times, farce is needed to take a point to the next level.
What’s best is when both can be combined.
Baseball got another good sports movie with the release of Moneyball, where the changing ways of baseball sabermetrics were strapped to a narrative of Billy Beane‘s life to create a winning tale. Underlying the story of Beane’s work as the Oakland Athletics’ general manager, though, was a narrative about the ruthlessness of the game — and who better to tell that tale than Montgomery Burns and Wayland Smithers?
Some creative soul has taken the Moneyball trailer and combined it with Simpsons clips to tell the story of the movie through the mouths of the TV show, and it’s a treat. And, while Moneyball was a solid enough movie on its own, how it’s told by Simpsons characters may be even better.
Check it out in the clip below, with a hat tip to a euphoric Big League Stew for finding it.
