Fernando Torres is back to his best. He’s playing up top all by himself and he’s the star of the show.
Unfortunately, the show is no soccer game. It’s a new Samsung commercial in which Torres bakes cupcakes (seriously).
The spot starts with the Chelsea striker introducing himself and doing some juggling tricks with a ball. It takes a bizarre twist when Torres is beamed to a kitchen where he starts baking.
Torres whisks some batter, throws the mixture in the oven … and then he waits. The strangest moment of the commercial sees Torres sitting on the counter-top twiddling his thumbs as he waits for the cupcakes to bake. Perhaps he could have snuck in some extra practice in his down time (seeing as he was wearing his full Chelsea uniform).
The ad ends with Torres holding up a tasty-looking cupcake.
We’re not exactly sure where the connection between a baking Torres and Samsung’s “perfection” lies, but the ad wasn’t geared toward the American audience. The ad targets Samsung’s Thai customers.
See Torres get busy in the kitchen in the video below.
