Claude Julien Gives No Update About David Krejci’s Injury Following Loss to Penguins

The Bruins have been lucky when it comes to injuries this season, but that trend seems to be reversing a bit. First, the Bruins lost center Chris Kelly indefinitely with a broken tibia suffered last week. Now the Bruins are hoping center David Krejci avoids joining Kelly.

Krejci left Sunday’s loss to the Penguins with an apparent knee or leg injury after he took a Johnny Boychuk slap shot to the right leg. The center jumped in the air to try and avoid being hit with the shot, but the slapper went high and hit the airborne Krejci. He fell to the ice, and lay there for a few moments. The Bruins training staff came out to tend to Krejci, before Boychuk and Milan Lucic had to help him off the ice. Krejci wasn’t putting any pressure on the injured leg. Unsurprisingly, he did not return, but he was seen “walking gingerly” to the team bus after the loss, according to CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty. 

Bruins coach Claude Julien didn’t have much of an update on Krejci after the game, flatly stating that he didn’t know (or perhaps more accurately wasn’t going to share) any news on Krejci’s injury. When asked whether or not Krejci would join the team on its trip to Winnipeg, Julien had this to say.

“I haven’t been told that he hasn’t, that he wasn’t or isn’t,” Julien told reporters in Pittsburgh. “That’s basically all I have.”

Krejci has played in at least 75 games in each of his last four seasons prior to this year.
