Matt Greene, Dustin Brown, Anze KopitarThe Los Angeles Kings will enjoy one of the final benefits of winning the Stanley Cup last season when they visit the White House on Tuesday. Thanks to Tim Thomas, the traditional trip will now feature a thorough attendance report.

The former Bruins goalie made waves last year when he decided to skip the trip to Pennsylvania Avenue. The then reigning Conn Smythe winner compounded that with a handful of politically charged Facebook posts that made it fairly clear where he stood when it comes to politics.

It might be a while before someone pulls that move again, especially given the backlash that came with the move, a backlash that some even tried to blame an ensuing Bruins’ slump and playoff loss on. However, that’s not going to stop others from joking about the whole ordeal.

That includes Kings forward Dustin Penner who tweeted this on Tuesday prior to the visit.
