Come September, the Ravens’ defense may be almost unrecognizable from the one that won them a Super Bowl just a month ago.
Paul Kruger and Dannell Ellerbe have already signed elsewhere (in Cleveland and Miami, respectively), Bernard Pollard has reportedly been cut, Ray Lewis has moved on to ESPN and now Ed Reed is making his first visit with another team.
According to multiple sources, including Houston Chronicle NFL writer John McClain, the veteran safety will visit with the Texans on Thursday.
Reed has spent his entire 12-year career in Baltimore, but the general consensus is that he is unlikely to return for the 2013 season. Houston would be a prime candidate to sign the nine-time Pro Bowler after losing safety Glover Quin to the Lions in free agency.
The 49ers and Colts also reportedly have interest in Reed, who tallied 58 tackles, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries in 2012.
