John EnfieldFlorida Gulf Coast’s head coach, Andy Enfield, may not be used to the sudden notoriety that a second-round upset over Georgetown brought him. But his wife, Amanda Marcum, is used to the spotlight as a former Maxim model. The story of the two’s first date is right in line with Florida Gulf Coast’s underdog story.

Enfield was introduced to his wife through a mutual friend. Their first date was to a St. John’s NIT game at the Carnesecca Arena in 2003. Enfield wasn’t familiar with the restaurants in Queens, so he figured he’d see what was open on campus. Taco Bell was the only restaurant open late.

“I got her a nice burrito, and we sat behind the bench,” Enfield said to Newsday. “I figured if she still likes me after Taco Bell and a basketball game . . . ”

It’s the classic old story: Boy meets girl, boy takes girl to basketball game, boy and girl eat at Taco Bell, girl happens to be Maxim model.
