Those imploring the Red Sox higher-ups to give Jackie Bradley Jr. a shot at the majors have gotten their wish. Bradley will start in left field when the Sox open their 2013 slate Monday morning at Yankee Stadium.
The charismatic rookie dominated throughout spring training, finishing with a .419 batting average, and called the opportunity to start the year with the big-league club “an honor.”
“I don’t want to say he’s unflappable, but at the same time, he has a very consistent approach,” manager John Farrell said. “This is a young guy that seems very polished at a very early stage in his pro career. … What we know of the individual gives us a lot of confidence and comfort to put him in the position that he finds himself in.”
