Manny Ramirez is officially back on the diamond, folks.
Unable to land a job (or even a spring training invite) with a major league club, Ramirez has landed in Taiwan, inking a deal with the EDA Rhinos. However, the local fans may apparently want to acclimate themselves with their new star.
According to Busted Coverage, Ramirez’s Wednesday debut was nothing short of a circus, as Ramirez is far and away the biggest player ever to play in the China Baseball League. However, one fan’s sign in the crowd (which can be seen in the photo below) actually depicts Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto, not Ramirez. They’re both from the Dominican Republic and have dreadlocks, but otherwise don’t look much alike.
Ramirez lined a single in his first at-bat, and not only was the ball removed from play, but it made the announcers go bezerk, too. Check out a video of the whole scene below.
