A coach for a women’s lacrosse team and a bus driver died Saturday after the team’s charter bus crashed near Carlisle, Pa.
The Seton Hill University lacrosse players along with three coaches were among the 23 people on board when the bus crashed around 9 a.m. The team was on its way to a Division II matchup against Millersville University in Millersville, Pa. It is unclear what caused the crash, but state police are investigating, authorities said.
The team’s head coach, Kristina Quigley, of Greensburg, 30, was flown to a hospital after the accident and died there from injuries from the crash, Cumberland County authorities said. They say Quigley was about six months pregnant and her unborn child did not survive. The driver, 61-year-old Anthony Guaetta of Johnstown, died at the scene of the crash.
The school has released a statement mourning the loss of their head women’s lacrosse coach.
Two other victims from the crash were flown by helicopter to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, but their conditions were not disclosed.
