Even if you have stellar hand-eye coordination, it might be impossible to keep this one out of the net.
Swiss hockey player Cedric Botter thought he had scored goal number five for his team, Fribourg-Gottéron, during Saturday’s Swiss league playoff game against EHC Biel when he ripped a shot toward the net during the second period.
Botter skillfully beat a defender on the outside before rocketing a shot toward goaltender Reto Berra. Berra was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 4th round of the 2006 NHL draft.
After the shot is where things got tricky. The puck careened off of the far post and split in two, with one half crossing the goal line and Berra knocking the other half away with his blocker.
After review, the goal was called back, but Fribourg-Gottéron went on to crush EHC Biel 6-0 to move on to the LNA semifinals.
