The Bruins have placed third-line forward Chris Bourque on waivers, the club announced Thursday afternoon. That means the rest of the league has the chance to claim him, and if he’s not picked up, he can be sent to Providence of the AHL.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie was the first to report the news.

The son of Bruins legend Ray Bourque and a Boston University product himself, the younger Bourque came into the season with high expectations. It just hasn’t clicked yet, as he’s scored just one goal with the Bruins this season to go along with three assists and a minus-6 rating.

Bourque has been a point-per-game player at the AHL level for his entire career, but in a few brief stops at the NHL level, he’s yet to find that scoring touch. The 27-year-old has just 2-6-8 totals in 51 career NHL games.
