Chris GambleYou can cross one name off the list of potential Patriots cornerbacks: Chris Gamble.

The 30-year-old Ohio State product informed his agent on Sunday night that he plans to retire, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN.com. Gamble was released by the Panthers on March 8.

Gamble was one of the best cornerbacks in the league during his nine-year career. He only played four games in 2012 due to a shoulder injury. He retired with 27 career interceptions and three touchdowns.

Gamble’s agent told Anderson that the corner received interest from multiple teams, but he wants to focus on life after football. He received a six-year, $53 million contract from the Panthers in 2008 with $23 million guaranteed.
