It appears the Patriots are not limiting their scope at cornerback to Aqib Talib.
New England is among the leading candidates for Sean Smith‘s services in free agency, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports. Smith has spent his entire four-year career with the Miami Dolphins.
The Utah product is 6-foot-3, 218 pounds and has started every game for Miami the past two years. He offers similar size as Talib, but would likely come at a lesser price tag. Smith has five career interceptions and forced three fumbles in 2012.
Smith allowed 62 receptions for 732 yards on 113 targets last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He allowed six touchdowns and deflected 12 passes.
