Report: Tomas Kaberle Placed on Waivers by Montreal Canadiens

MontrealA familiar face is available to the Bruins (or any NHL team) as the trade deadline nears.

The Montreal Canadiens placed 13-year veteran Tomas Kaberle on waivers Saturday, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Kaberle had taken on a minimal role for Montreal this season, appearing in just 10 games. It has been a tough season for the former Bruin as he has only posted three total points this season. Kaberle has been a healthy scratch for the Canadiens since his last appearance on March 5.

With a few Bruins defensemen getting banged up, there has to be speculation as to whether Peter Chiarelli will take another chance on Kaberle. The Czechoslovakian posted nine points and a plus-six rating for the Bruins during his stint in Boston back in 2011.

With many teams in the hunt for defense, Kaberle could land somewhere sooner rather than later.
