Alfredo Aceves to Replace John Lackey in Starting Rotation, Start Thursday Against Orioles

Alfredo AcevesThe Red Sox have found their fill-in for John Lackey in the starting rotation.

As predicted by many, Alfredo Aceves will start in place of Lackey this week. Aceves will start Thursday against the Orioles. Felix Doubront was scheduled to make that start, but according to WEEI.com, Doubront will pitch Friday against the Rays instead.

Aceves has pitched in two games this season, sporting a 10.38 ERA through 4 1/3 innings with five strikeouts.

The 30-year-old pitcher is 2-1 career as a starter with a 4.18 ERA in nine starts. He has 24 strikeouts in 47 1/3 innings in the starting role. Aceves last started for Boston in 2011.
