If you visit Cooperstown, N.Y., and the Baseball Hall of Fame, nowadays, you can find Barry Bonds‘ infamous 62nd home run ball from the 2001 season marked with an asterisk, courtesy of fashion designer Marc Ecko. Now, another memory from Bonds’ historic career has been defaced, too.
A Giants spokesperson admitted on Tuesday night that the plaque commemorating Bonds’ 756th career home run is missing from AT&T Park. The team will be replacing the marker, but as of now, the Giants are stumped on the whereabouts of the plaque.
“We’re in the process of replacing it,” Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter told The Associated Press. “We’re not sure what happened. We’re reviewing video, but haven’t found anything yet.”
As of Wednesday morning, all that remains of the plaque is glue remnants stuck to the stadium’s brick facade. Check out some pictures of the spot where the missing plaque used to be (immediately to the left of the Comcast SportsNet ad in the first photo) below.
