If you thought J.D. Drew didn’t show enough emotion while with the Red Sox, wait until you see this slugger.
Scientists at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo created a baseball-playing robot that can adjust to pitch speeds. The robot has an artificial brain that reads the speed of a pitch as it’s coming at him. It can adjust to each pitch individually.
So far the bot is just swinging what looks like an oversized fly swatter at plastic balls, but this technology is still pretty impressive. It actually has us doubting if Mike Trout and Bryce Harper are actually human beings, or if they’re just more advanced versions of this robot. We’re on to you, Angels and Nationals.
