Boston’s Big Night Derailed by ‘Rainy Day Wrench’ in Ninth-Inning Loss to Orioles (Video)

The Bruins won, but they didn’t make it look easy. The Red Sox seemd poised to make it look easy, but then it wasn’t at all, and they didn’t even end up winning.

In the end, Boston had to settle for a split of the night’s games, with the Bruins holding on for a 5-4 lead over New Jersey while the Sox suffered an 8-5 loss to the Orioles. The Sox had their chance, but a two-run lead in the ninth inning evaporated with Joel Hanrahan looking to close things out.

Nate McLouth walked in a controversial at-bat, then Manny Machado followed a wild pitch with a three-run home run to lead the Orioles to an emotional win for the O’s — and a gut-wrenching loss for the Sox. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding Daniel Nava our “Rainy Day Wrench” player of the game, though. Who’s yours?

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
