Brad Marchand Leaves Game After Taking Vicious Elbow to Head From Anton Volchenkov (Video)

There’s no other way to describe what Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov did to Brad Marchand on Wednesday night than to say it was downright dirty.

Volchenkov dropped Marchand with a high elbow to the head 15:11 into the second period of the Devils-Bruins game in New Jersey on Wednesday night. The hit left Marchand a little woozy, and the Bruins forward eventually fell to the ice in apparent pain. He was helped off the ice and immediately went down the tunnel to the Boston dressing room.

Marchand did not return to the game.

Volchenkov does have a supplemental discipline history. He was suspended three games in 2011 for this elbow to the head of Zach Boychuk.
