A 16-year-old California teen has died after being struck by a softball during gym class on Wednesday.
According to UPI.com, Taylor Dorman was playing over the line, a pepper-like baseball-derived game, when he was struck in the chest by a softball. Dorman’s classmates said that he seemed fine for about 20 minutes before complaining of chest pain and collapsing.
Dorman was airlifted from Ramona High School in Ramona, Calif., to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. He died a few hours later, and the cause of death has not yet been released.
Wednesday was also Dorman’s birthday, and classmates and faculty gathered at the school that evening to mourn his death.
