Canadiens forward Ryan White is a player who plays on the edge from time to time, and he crossed the line on Monday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.

White caught Philadelphia defenseman Kent Huskins with a vicious arm to the head in Monday night’s game that left Huskins sprawled out on the ice. The hit left Huskins with a concussion. The Flyers tried to make White pay on the ice, and on Wednesday the league did the same. The NHL announced a five-game suspension for White.

The five-game ban is the largest suspension handed out this season, tied with Patrick Kaleta, who was also forced to sit five games for a hit on Brad Richards earlier in the season.

See the hit and the suspension explanation from the NHL below.
