It looked like a pitcher’s duel was going to be the story of the day Monday at Fenway Park, but Daniel Nava had other plans.
Nava clubbed a three-run home run off Wei-Yin Chen in the seventh inning, leading the Red Sox to their ninth straight victory in the team’s home opener. The streak, which dates back to 2005, is the longest active streak in the big leagues, and it will remain that for another season after the left fielder’s heroics.
NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding Nava our “Home Run Homecoming” award, despite a stellar performance by starter Clay Buchholz. Who’s your player of the game?
