Nicoletta den Ridder boldly nominated herself for a place in soccer’s hall of shame with one of the worst missed scoring chances you’ll ever see.
The Beerschot Antwerpen Dames player committed the gaffe in a Dutch women’s league game against Ajax.
One of den Ridder’s teammates struck a free kick against the post, and it rebounded straight to den Ridder, who was standing less than a yard away from the goal. But she somehow managed to mis-hit her shot, sending it over the bar instead of into the yawning goal.
We’ve seen some bad misses on our travels around the soccer world. The only one worse than den Ridder’s was Snoop Lion‘s efforts. But he’s a rapper (reggae artist?) and it didn’t happen in open play.
