The NBA must have something against swag.

At least, Knicks guard Iman Shumpert probably thinks so. The former McDonald’s All-American showed some creativity with his trademark high-top fade haircut recently, having his barber shave the Adidas logo into the back of his hair. The NBA quickly swooped in and forced Shumpert to shave the logo off, citing league rules. He posted a before and after photo on his Instagram account.

Shumpert is sponsored by Adidas and appears in their new TV commercial campaign, but according to league rules, Item 5 of Section H of the NBA rule book’s extended comments section says,“The only article bearing a commercial ‘logo’ which can be worn by players is their shoes.”

Shumpert returned to the Knicks roster in mid January after suffering a season-ending injury in the 2011-2012 season. He’s averaging 6.1 points, 2.78 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
