Ninth inning pressure may not get to Jonathan Papelbon, but being in large crowds these days does.
Paps, who used to live near where the explosions went of during Monday’s Boston Marathon, was asked about safety prior to the Phillies-Reds game on Tuesday. The former Red Sox closer admitted that he doesn’t even like being big crowds these days, according to The700Level.com.
“I don’t feel comfortable doing that,” Papelbon said. “I really, truly don’t. In today’s day and age, it’s gotten so crazy… everything. All this stuff going on.”
He calls everything that’s going on “a bit insane” and even slipped in some thoughts about our nation’s Commander-in-Chief.
“Shoot, man, [President Barack] Obama wants to take our guns from us and everything,” he added. “You got this kind of stuff going on. It’s a little bit insane for me. I don’t really know how to take it.”
