Josh Bailey Helps Islanders Make Statement Playing With ‘Playoff Purpose’ Against Bruins (Video)

The Bruins could have clinched a playoff spot against the Islanders with a win or overtime loss Thursday night. Josh Bailey had other ideas.

The New York center scored two goals to lead the Isles to a 2-1 victory over the punchless Bruins, who looked gassed on the tail end of their final back-to-back of the year. Still, it was an important win for New York not only because they are fighting for a playoff spot, but also because it proved that should the Islanders and Bruins meet up in the playoffs, things could get interesting.

Of course, the Bruins were without Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, but NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is still willing to give credit where it’s due. That’s why Bailey is our “Playoff Purpose” player of the game. Who’s yours?
