Louisville’s promise to “Win It For Ware” came to fruition Monday night.

The Cardinals defeated Michigan 82-76 to win their first national championship since 1986, and Kevin Ware — just over a week removed from suffering a horrific leg injury in the Elite Eight — was on hand to enjoy the win with his teammates.

After Cardinals players took turns ceremoniously cutting down the net, stadium staff at the Georgia Dome lowered the basket to allow Ware, who stood on the court with crutches, to finish the job.
