Josh BoyceThe Patriots jumped right back on the horse on Saturday afternoon, and they went offense with their first pick.

With the fifth pick (No. 102 overall) of Day 3, the Patriots went with another wide receiver. This time they drafted TCU wideout Josh Boyce.

Boyce is a bit undersized at just 5-foot-11, but he’s another athletic wonder. He’s definitely a speedster, running a blazing 4.38-second 40-yard dash and 6.68 seconds in the three-cone drill.

He was productive in his three seasons with the Horned Frogs. He had 161 career receptions and 22 touchdowns, including 66 grabs for 891 yards and seven scores in 2012.

The Patriots have long been looking for a speedy receiver to work the deep part of the field. Now, they’ve already found two of those guys in this draft. They selected Aaron Dobson, who has ideal size and speed to play on the outside, in the second round and now they get another potential gamebreaker with Boyce.

Given the departure of Wes Welker and an obvious focus on speed and athleticism in drafting these two receivers, it would seem the Patriots’ offense may be moving in a slightly different direction.
