Red Sox, Bruins Announce That Friday Night Games Have Been Postponed

The Red Sox and Bruins have announced that Friday night’s games have been postponed.

The Red Sox were due to host the Kansas City Royals at 7:10 p.m. at Fenway Park. The Bruins were to play the Pittsburgh Penguins at TD Garden at 7 p.m.

The Bruins and Penguins have moved Friday night’s game to Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Pittsburgh was originally scheduled to play the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The B’s confirmed late Friday night that the game will take place, after consulting with the city and the league. Tickets for Friday night’s game can be used Saturday, the team said.

The Red Sox have not announced a new date for their game against the Royals, the first of a three-game set.

“[Friday’s] Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park has been postponed to support the efforts of law enforcement officers,” the Red Sox announced around 3 p.m.

The teams said earlier in the day that they were waiting for direction from law enforcement officials before deciding whether to proceed with the games.
