The courting of Antoine Winfield is over.

The cornerback has made his decision after choosing between the Seahawks and Vikings, and he has opted to join the Seattle franchise for the 2013 season after nine years in Minnesota.

“I’m definitely excited about the opportunity to play in Seattle,” Winfield told ESPN’s Josina Anderson. “They’re a great football team. Those guys did an excellent job last season. They’re young, athletic and energetic. I’m excited to play with Richard [Sherman], Brandon [Browner], Kam [Chancellor] and Earl [Thomas] because they’re some of the most talented players on defense in the NFL right now.”

The Seattle secondary was already regarded as one of the top units in all of the NFL, and Winfield’s addition shouldn’t do anything to change that. He recorded 100 tackles and three interceptions with the Vikings last year.
