Bruins Acquire Jaromir Jagr From Stars for Two Prospects, Draft Pick

Jaromir JagrUpdate, 3:22 p.m. ET: The Bruins have announced the acquisition of Jaromir Jagr. The Stars receive Lane MacDermid, Cody Payne and a conditional second-round draft pick in 2013.

The Bruins clearly needed to upgrade their offense and their power play, and they may have done so by adding a future Hall of Famer.

According to multiple reports, the B’s have acquired forward Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars. According to Dallas Morning News reporter Mike Heika, the Bruins will send two prospects and a draft pick to the Stars in exchange for Jagr. It’s unclear at this point what those pieces are.

According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the Bruins will send forward Lane MacDermid and prospect Cody Payne to Dallas as well as a conditional second-round pick, according to ESPN’s James Murphy.

ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun also reports that the deal is done, but he says that the deal is still pending the trade call with the league.

Jagr signed a one-year deal with Dallas prior to the 2012-13 season. He has 14 goals and 12 assists in 34 games this season with the Stars. He also has six power-play goals and three power-play assists. The 1990 first-round pick is 41 years old and is in the middle of his 19th NHL season.
