Solider FieldWhile the Chicago Bears gear up for training camp this summer, for one day in July, their home venue Solider Field will be filled with individuals watching and throwing tomatoes.

On July 27, Solider Field will be host to “Tomato Blast,” a tomato throwing festival much like Spain’s annual event called La Tomatina. La Tomatina is held on the final Wednesday of August every year in the town of Buñol.

The cost is $24.99 if you want to watch, or if you want to get in on the action and start hurling tomatoes, you’ll have to throw down $49.99. More info can be found on the event’s website

This will not be a waste of food, as all tomatoes being thrown will be past ripe. If they run out of tomatoes during the event, which spans from noon to 6 p.m., organizers have back-up plans.

And what about the cleanup? No showers, but tomato throwers will be able to be hosed down.
