Michael Strem pitched an absolute gem last week in the California Central Coast Section Division I playoffs.
Strem tossed the first perfect game in St. Francis High School history, and it took him just 66 pitches to achieve the accomplishment, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Out of Strem’s 66 pitches, 48 were strikes. He struck out eight batters in seven innings.
The game was knotted at 0-0 until the sixth inning, when Strem’s teammate, Mark Cardinalli, knocked in the only two runs of the game on a single. Strem is committed to Boston College, according to his Twitter page.
He’s 10-1 with a 1.12 ERA and 71 strikeouts on the season, according to MaxPreps.com. He’s also batting .400 with a .996 OPS and five stolen bases.
