Goalies can single-handedly swing playoff series and win Stanley Cups, but they can’t do it all in one night. Tuukka Rask appears to be doing his darnedest on Thursday night, however, after a sterling first period against an obviously desperate Toronto Maple Leafs team.
Rask made 19 saves in the first period of Friday’s game, some more spectacular than others. When the dust settled, the Bruins weren’t winning, but they weren’t losing either — an excellent feat after a 20-minute period in which they were most decidedly not the better team.
NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is hoping that the Bruins can rally around their goalie and turn things around in the later periods. See more in the above video.
