David Ortiz has been one of the best hitters in baseball this year, and the Red Sox would like to have him in the lineup every day they can. That proves a little more difficult to do when playing in National League ballparks, but they have the usual designated hitter penciled in at first base for Thursday’s series finale in Philadelphia.
That could be a little interesting to see, but Big Papi is no stranger to defense — and he’s proved himself capable of holding his own at first throughout his career. This time, the concern shouldn’t be that he will play badly.
