Franklin Morales Excited to Be Back on Mound, Help Red Sox in Winning Effort (Video)

Franklin Morales returned to the mound just in time for the Red Sox.

With Clay Buchholz still sidelined with a collarbone issue, Boston needed a spot starter, and it just so happened that Morales was finishing up his rehab assignment and ready to return to the big club for his season debut. The result Thursday was a 9-2 victory over the Phillies and a win for Morales in his first time out.

After the game, Morales predictably said that he’s excited to be back and prepared to help the team win. Likewise, the left-hander is focusing on a simple strategy for now: throw strikes, make his pitchs and let the hitter get himself out.

Check out everything Morales had to say after his 2013 debut in the video above.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
