Joe Flacco Won’t Use ‘R-Word’ Anymore, Signs Pledge to Refrain From Using Derogatory Term (Photo)

Back in January, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco used the word “retarded” to describe the idea of playing the Super Bowl in cold weather, and quickly caught flak for his slip. However, ever the progressive thinker, Flacco is making amends and striking the derogatory term from his vocabulary.

Flacco apologized the day after using the word, but, according to the Special Olympics Maryland, Flacco and teammates Ed Dickson and Gino Gradkowski are going a step further and signing a pledge to refrain from using the word.
