Prior to Game 5, possibly as a response to Jason Terry talking too much trash for the Knicks’ liking, Kenyon Martin told his New York teammates to show up to Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night dressed all in black. Martin anticipated the game being the Celtics’ funeral, and he wanted his guys to be dressed appropriately.

Well, the move backfired. Instead of looking intimidating and tough, the Knicks came away looking sort of foolish after the Celtics won and forced a Game 6 back in Boston. That left Martin in an awkward position, and he did not feel like talking about it.

“If you want to talk about basketball, we’ll talk about basketball,” Martin said in response to TNT reporter Lewis Johnson‘s question about the Knicks’ fashion statement. When Johnson re-asked the question, Martin got testy and repeated his answer.
