Lukas Podolski is among Germany’s greatest-ever goal scorers, but he alone holds the title of Germany’s fastest-ever goal scorer.

On Wednesday, Podolski scored just nine seconds into his country’s game against Ecuador.

Just after the opening kickoff, the 27-year-old forward pressured Ecuador defender Gabriel Achilier, stole the ball, controlled it and shot past goalkeeper Maximo Banguera. It all happened before much of the crowd at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla., had a chance to settle into their seats.

Podolksi scored a second goal 15 minutes later, giving him an impressive 46 goals in 109 games in his international career.
