Mark SanchezDuring the 2012 NFL campaign, Tim Tebow was ripped by several anonymous Jets teammates in the New York Daily News, creating yet another distraction for the team. Tebow may be gone, but history seems to be repeating itself, this time with Mark Sanchez as the target.

A Jets player who asked not to be identified said that the feeling in the locker room is that Sanchez had his shot, and now it’s time for New York to move forward with someone else at the helm of the offense. Mike Freeman of CBS Sports reported the words of the anonymous player.

“Everyone on the team likes Mark personally, but there’s a general feeling among some of the players that maybe it’s time to give someone else a chance,” the player said, estimating that the feeling is shared by 80 to 90 percent of the team.

To compound matters, Sanchez, who will be fighting rookie Geno Smith for his starting role, threw three picks in 11 attempts at OTAs on Wednesday. Head coach Rex Ryan called Sanchez’s showing “disappointing” and “unacceptable.”
