The New England Patriots and New York Jets are facing two very different realities heading into the 2013 season. The Patriots are eyeing another trip to the Super Bowl, and the Jets are staring down another middling campaign. Yet Jets owner Woody Johnson says the Patriots need to beware.
After dealing away cornerback Darrelle Revis and making a lot of noise during this year’s NFL draft, Johnson said Tuesday that the Jets are heading in the right direction and asked fans to be patient, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
“Be patient and have trust we’re doing the best thing for your team,” Johnson said during a news conference. “The draft is going to work.”
When asked by a reporter if that meant that the Patriots need to “look out,” Johnson laughed and said “absolutely.”

Let’s remember that this is the same Jets team that finished 6-10 in 2012 and continues to boast Mark Sanchez as its starting quarterback. So, while Jets fans probably appreciate the optimism, Johnson may be getting a bit ahead of himself here.
