Aaron Hernandez Would Like to See Tim Tebow Play Tight End, Doesn’t Know What Florida Teammate’s Role Will Be

Tim Tebow, Tom Brady, Josh McDanielsFOXBORO, Mass. — Tim Tebow took the field in a red practice jersey and worked with the quarterbacks for all of practice. That’s all we know right now about what his role will be in the Patriots’ offense.

Frankly, Aaron Hernandez doesn’t know any more than we do. But he has a relationship with Tebow dating back to the three years they spent together at Florida from 2007 to 2009. If anyone could teach the mobile quarterback how to play a different position, it may be his friend from the Gators.

“I don’t know,” Hernandez said when asked if Tebow could play tight end. “But it would be good to see him out there.”

Tebow has been significantly better carrying the football than throwing it during his time in the pros. That leads some to believe that the quarterback could have some versatility at tight end, running back, wide receiver or even defense. Hernandez is going to leave those decisions up to his coach, though.

“I’m sure he’ll be doing a few things here,” Hernandez said. “And that’s up to Bill Belichick. But I’m just worried about doing my job and keep playing football.”

Hernandez said it was good to be back on the field with his former teammate. The tight end said the two were very close with one another while at Florida. Hernandez didn’t give Tebow a huge welcome to the team, though. All he said when he saw the new Patriot was “How are you doing, Tim?” If only the same could be said for the media.
