Brian Cashman Alex RodriguezIt took Alex Rodriguez only one Twitter mistake to revert back to the golden days of releasing a statement.

After Yankees general manager Brian Cashman gave a colorful response to Rodriguez tweeting that he was cleared to play ball again, the third baseman went public — again — to say that he was just excited.

“I will continue to work hard until my efforts get me back in pinstripes and help my team win,” Rodriguez’s statement said. “The tweet was pure excitement about Dr. [Bryan] Kelly‘s prognosis.”

While many would be hard-pressed to defend Rodriguez, his social media blunder seemed to only upset Cashman. After all, a tweet won’t win or lose a game.
