Alfredo AcevesAlfredo Aceves has had an up-and-down season, but after he was sent down to Triple-A for postingĀ an 8.66 ERA through five appearances with Boston in April, he was called back up to the big leagues on Wednesday night.

Aceves’ night back on the Red Sox roster had him in the starting rotation, and the right-hander rose to the occasion. He pitched six innings and gave up just one run in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over the Yankees. Aceves struck out three in his spot start.

The performance lowered Aceves’ ERA to 5.58, and he recorded his third win of the season, bringing his record to 3-1. Aceves has struck out 22 in 30.2 innings with the Red Sox this season , and for that he’s our Amica Pitcher of the Week.
