Baseball fans will do just about anything for a souvenir. As one Angels fan proved on Monday, however, they’ll also do just about anything to avoid a souvenir, too — sacrificing spouses included.

During the Halos-Astros game on Monday, Houston’sĀ J.D. MartinezĀ fouled a ball off, letting the bat slip from his hands and soar through the air to the left side. It didn’t injure any fans, but it certainly came close, thanks to one man who will likely never hear the end of it.

As the bat hurtled toward a middle-aged couple, the man bailed out of his seat and headed for safety, leaving his wife in the path of the flying lumber.
